Best Practices for Designing Shopping Cart and Checkout Interfaces

Note: I've taken this article down because I'm no longer happy with it. No future updates are planned. Sorry.

Update - January 22, 2003

This page still gets a lot of traffic, and rather than have people leave empty handed I'd like to suggest a book that provides excellent guidelines for shopping cart and checkout designs called "The Design of Sites." Even though the authors swiped some of my content, this book is a handy "best practices" guide that will be useful to new and seasoned web designers alike.
